The Future of College Completion Programs and the Need for Outcome Data
College completion has become a national focus among foundations, President Obama’s administration, schools, and nonprofit organizations. Nonprofit and state agency student finance organizations have provided college completion programs for more than 40 years; however the elimination of the FFELP has led to decreased funding for these programs. There are several federal college completion initiatives and foundation grant programs focused on funding programs; however each of these funding initiatives requires outcome measurements. This session will identify the types of outcome measurements that are required and the data that must be collected.

U.S. Department of Education Regulatory Update
The U.S. Department of Education has several initiatives underway affecting nonprofit and state agency student loan organizations including: not-for-profit Direct Loan servicing; Voluntary Flexible Agreements for guaranty agencies to provide services to students, schools and lenders; negotiated rulemaking to account for changes stemming from the elimination of the FFELP and more; and proposed changes to FERPA. To provide attendees with an understanding of the impact of these initiatives, a top U.S. Department of Education official will provide insight on the direction the Department of Education is heading as well as its priorities.
