Cancellation Policy:
All cancellation requests must be made in writing to NCHELP or EFC. Full refunds will be provided for cancellation requests made on or before July 21, 2010. Requests made after July 21, 2010 and before July 30, 2010 will receive a 50 percent refund; any requests made after July 30, 2010 are not eligible for a refund even if the registrant does NOT attend the conference.

In order to obtain the reduced room rate of $229.00 plus tax (14.75% New York State hotel tax; New York City occupancy tax of $2.00 per room nightly; and the New York City Convention Center tax of $1.50 per room nightly) you must make your reservations by July 21, 2010. Please be sure to tell the reservation agent that you are attending the EFC/NCHELP Student Loan Finance and Legal Meeting. Once the room block is full or after July 21 2010 (whichever comes first) room reservations are subject to availability and price change. In addition to the meeting dates, The Barclay New York will offer the same group rate for 3-days pre- and post-event, subject to room and rate availability. Check-in time is 3:00 p.m. and checkout time is 12:00 p.m. Any individual guestroom cancellations made after 3:00 p.m. on the day prior to arrival will be charged one night’s room and tax against the method of guarantee. FCC’s PROPOSED RULE UNDER THE TELEPHONE CONSUMER PROTECTION ACT
The Federal Communication Commission has proposed that a consumer must give express written consent before a business may use an autodialer or deliver an artificial or prerecorded message to the consumer’s cell phone, even if the consumer has previously provided the number as his or her contact information. This session will explore the legislative and regulatory history behind this proposal and show how it negatively impacts a number of businesses, including loan servicers and debt collectors.
